Mark Arnold BSc (Hons) Lic Ac. MBAcC
I studied 5 Element acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) acupuncture at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading. Study at CICM's 4 year degree course included Tui-Na massage, cupping, moxabustion and Guasha which are all parts of Chinese Medicine. Training at CICM includes clinical medical sciences which covers physiology, anatomy, differential diagnosis and the side effects of commonly prescribed medication.
I am fully licenced and insured as a member of the British Acupuncture Council.
My interest in acupuncture and holistic ways of viewing the body began around 20 years ago whilst deepening my understanding of Eastern martial arts and meditation. The philosophy underlying internal martial arts, Qi Gong and meditation are very similar to basic principles in Chinese medicine, that is how the mind and body work as a whole.
Coupling this with a strong interest in human biology and an increasing dissatisfaction of how pharmaceutical medicine creates often worse side effects, acupuncture has been the ideal career choice. It is worth pointing out though that from studying medicine, I fully appreciate the need for pharmaceutical treatments and will work with you as a patient to explore what is best for you.
I currently devote my time to my family, deepening my understanding of acupuncture, meditation and Qi Gong. I am a regular at my local gym and if time permits would love to take up internal martial arts again!
